Description: Hyphae superficial, sub-hyaline, 1–2 µm wide. Ascoma thyriothecioid, amphigenous but mainly epiphyllous, orbicular, 150–180 µm diam.; scutellum composed of radiating rows of pale brown quadrilateral cells 3–4 × 4–5 µm; those surrounding the ostiole forming a distinct collar, thick walled, dark brown, those at the margin elongated to form blunt projections up to 3 µm long; ostiole 5–8 µm diam. Asci numerous, narrowly obclavate, 36–44 × 6·5–9 µm, 8-spored. Ascospores hyaline, 1-septate, sometimes guttulate, fusiform, often slightly curved, 9–14 × 2–3·5 µm, with two apical appendages about the same length as the spore
